Cyberinfrastructure connects underwater observations with the Internet in real time.

Cyberinfrastructure allows online access of underwater observations to anyone in the world in real time.

This time on Ocean Gazing, John Orcutt and Frank Vernon – from Scripps Institution of Oceanography and UC San Diego – explain how they get automated underwater observations back ashore to actual human beings. Vernon says, “We hope that everybody takes advantage of it… I don’t think there’s any limit or bound.”

As a middle school teacher I’m excited about the opportunities this presents. I’m not exactly sure how I would go about using this information effectively in the classroom ~ though I definitely have some ideas.

One concern I have is that I may not be able to correctly understand what the data means.
