Kate Florio uploaded the file: Data Lesson – Piloting a Glider to Group logoRoss Sea Connection 2 years, 4 months ago

This is the lesson we did on Monday afternoon, where we looked at Sea Surface Temperature data to make decisions about where to send a glider. I have updated it just a little to hopefully make the process a little more clear.

You can follow this as written, with the figures in the PowerPoint (also posted, DataLesson_PilotingAGlider.ppt) to introduce how to read a sea surface temperature image, do some puzzles to evaluate if students know what to look for in the images, and then pull up the data needed for the plotting activity.

The worksheets you need for the students are part of the PowerPoint.
