I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stood on the beach in Belmar and watched a trawler do its thing. Of course I never do get to see what is happening along the ocean floor. I really like your idea of letting students see what happens. And by-catch is something most of them don’t know about. I’m a tad concerned about how they are actually going to do it. Is the tank low enough for them to be able to reach? Is the tank wide enough to have the weighted net drag “properly?”
Is there some way to have more people actually fish? I’m not sure why I’d be motivated to separate someone else’s catch.
I can’t wait to see this in action!
