Hi Skylar, in heavy weather the captain issues the command to ‘secure all weather decks’ which means we can’t go out on them. That’s to keep people from getting swept overboard. When the weather’s not quite so bad it’s still possible to get wet when a wave hits the ship just right. Elizabeth Halliday and Chris Linder got caught by a wave like that on the bow a week or so ago.
This project was made possible with the support of the National Science Foundation under Grant No. ANT-0839039 as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The education and outreach aspects of this project are supported by Rutgers University, Liberty Science Center and COSEE Networked Ocean World.
Awesome! Had to put this one on full screen to try and get the full effect!
Did you guys get wet when the waves splashed on the boat?
