Hello again! Science Ambassadors checking in from our food science session. We learned about cross-contamination. We all know about that subject, but not like this. It is always important to wash your hands, especially after eating or making a meal. However, did you know that even though you washed your hands there are still germs on it?! EWWWWW!!!!! How, you ask, were we able to find this out? Let me explain… first we coated our hands in a special powder and then we tried to wash our hands as best as we could. When we got back the professors put a UV light on top of our hands. They were still white with the powder. Even though it’s kind of nasty, it was also pretty cool, by my perspective. Well I’m going to get off for now so just make sure you wash your hands and please wash your utensils, like knives and forks, every time you make food. Oh and another thing never use one utensil for preparing the whole meal. An example would be like, cutting the chicken with one knife, then using the same knife to cut the vegetables. Not a good idea, because the germs from the chicken will end up in the vegetables. So, goodbye for now and wash your hands!
