Hey everybody, I’ve been pondering an activity that uses high frequency radar. I did a quick and dirty needs assessment and it appears that Coast Guard search and rescue would be the most interesting approach for students. Does anyone know of existing HF radar/CODAR activities, or activities that look at search and rescue ops? I will most likely use Rutgers COOL and Old Dominion University CODAR data. Thanks!
HI Chris – This might not be exactly what you are looking for but the Rescue mission in the Hudson River of Capt. Sully relied on data from the HRECOS system and its users. You can check out the entry here:
It is an interesting story that pulled heavily from the data being collected from the sensors in the river.
