Peristaltic Pump

This pump is used to run water through piping. Most pumps operate by pulling water through a pumping mechanism and transporting it from one location to a final destination. The peristaltic pump is unique because it works without coming into contact with the water it is pumping. This ensures that the water being pumped does not contaminate the pump, and more importantly, that the pump does not contaminate the water being sampled. *Remember that the scientists on board the R/V Endeavor are testing for very small amounts of trace elements; this means that if they are using equipment that can possibly be adding elements into their samples, their data/results could be compromised.
